NAMES IN THE NEWS

     STEPHON MARBURY, 19, will announce next week that he will
enter the NBA draft after only one season at Georgia Tech.
Scouts tell the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION Marbury is expected to be a
lottery pick (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 3/28). ....Disney's
Touchstone Pictures and Sandollar Productions have acquired film
rights to a book proposal about the U.S. Women's Basketball Team,
called "Venus to the Hoop."  Doubleday will publish the book, by
sports journalist SARA CORBETT, in '97.  The film project will be
developed by MICHELLE PFEIFFER's production company, Via Rosa.
The hope is that Pfeiffer will play U.S. Coach TARA VANDERVEER,
but she has not committed (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 3/28)....RICHARD
PETTY, running for Secretary of State in NC, was a guest on "CBS
This Morning."  Petty, on his controversial stance to continue to
advertise products like Pepsi and STP if elected:  "I think we
can keep it separated -- and you've got to figure part of being
Secretary of State is advertising the state of North Carolina"
(CBS, 3/28).
