FRANCHISE NOTES

     The Greater Houston Partnership has named April 1-7 as
Astros Spring Fever Week.  People are being asked to wear Astros
clothing to work on March 29 and building managers have been
asked to light their buildings with an Astros slogan or their
star (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 3/22)....The RHI Vancouver Voodoo
announced season ticket prices yesterday.  They include a 14-game
package for seniors and youths for $119, $203 for adults, and a
14-game Family Season Ticket for $476 (VooDoo)....The WI Senate
passed a bill Thursday creating a special Packers license plate.
The plate would be available for $80/year, with $25 going to the
state's Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.  The Packers
would get a 9% royalty (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL,
3/22).....Nets officials had no comment on a New York Post story
Thursday that Devils Owner John McMullen is interested in
purchasing the team.  The POST also speculated the Nets could be
headed toward Nashville under such a deal.  Nets forward Jayson
Williams:  "I'm not going to Tennessee.  I don't do any square
dancing" (N.Y. POST, 3/22)....Devil Rays officials say they will
open negotiations for a spring training site in Jupiter, FL, if
they cannot come to an agreement with Sarasota officials by today
(ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 3/21). ....The S.F. Recreation and Park
Commission voted to approve a ticket-price hike for the 49ers
from $39.75 to $45.  The commission also voted to raise parking
fees at 3Com Park (S.F. CHRONICLE, 3/22)....The Hershey Bears of
the AHL will enter into an affiliation agreement with the
Avalanche next season.  Colorado's current AHL affiliate, the
Cornwall Aces, are disbanding.  The Flyers, currently affiliated
with Hershey, will run their own AHL franchise in Philadelphia
next year (Hershey Bears)....CNBC cited a source close to the
NHL's marketing department as saying the Jets will be known as
the Coyotes next year ("Sports View," CNBC, 3/21).
