ABDUL-RAUF CONTROVERSY SENDS BABE PACKING IN HOUSTON

In Houston, KSEV/KPRC President and GM Dan Patrick informed
listeners Tuesday the station was ending its deal with ESPN's
Fabulous Sports Babe because Patrick disagreed with her position
on Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf's refusal to stand during the national
anthem. On the air, the Babe suggested the NBA allow Abdul Rauf
to remain in the locker room until the anthem was over. But
Patrick disagreed: "Once I confirmed what the Sports Babe was
saying, I canceled her show right on the air." ESPN Radio GM
Mark Mason said they knew the station would cancel the show
shortly, but "to pin it all on the (Abdul Rauf) issue is bogus
and it's not fair to (the Babe)." Mason said they are looking
for a new Houston carrier (Carlton Thompson, HOUSTON CHRONICLE,
3/15).
