New MLS Commissioner Doug Logan was profiled in the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Logan said the league has to "produce a credible product on the field worthy of being called Division One soccer, and we have to get to that level quickly" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 2/4....The CFL is preparing "for an onslaught of blitzing lawyers," according to Marty York of the GLOBE & MAIL. QB Matt Dunigan has sent a letter to CFL Commissioner Larry Smith threatening to sue for US$1.7M over his guaranteed contract with the now-defunct Birmingham Barracudas. The league will now consist exclusively of Canadian teams and could face similar suits over its "failed U.S. division" (GLOBE & MAIL, 2/6).
