BEST CHANCE FOR BREWERS STADIUM? KEEP TALKING TO THE MAN

The Brewers' best hope for getting their new stadium built
is to keep negotiating with their lead bank, the Charlotte-based
NationsBank, according to the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The
Brewers face a March 22 deadline to make a $90M contribution to
the stadium effort, and are trying to get NationsBank to give up
"first call" on Brewers revenue if the Brewers are to obtain a
$50M loan from the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development
Authority. Milwaukee Stadium Board Vice Chair Craig Leipold said
it is in NationsBank's best interest to make concessions, because
if the new stadium isn't built, the revenue may not be there to
pay back the Brewers' existing loan with NationsBank (Kenneth
Lamke, MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 2/28).
