BROADCAST NEWS: WYCHE JOINS NBC, NFL MAKES STAND WITH MOON

Former Bucs coach Sam Wyche has hired by NBC to work as a
commentator on the net's NFL telecasts. It is yet to be decided
whether he will be in NBC's New York studio or on-site at AFC
games. Wyche wouldn't disclose details of the deal, adding only:
"It's multi-year and multi-dollar ... more than 1 dollar" (Joey
Johnston, TAMPA TRIBUNE, 2/23).
NFL SAYS NO: The N.Y. POST's Phil Mushnick notes the "bad
information" on Warren Moon leaving TNT as an analyst. Moon was
not let go because of a pending assault trial against his wife,
but in response to a formal request by the NFL to its broadcast
partners that they stop hiring "active players as in-season
employees" (N.Y. POST, 2/23).
NBC'S OLYMPIC TEAM: NBC Sports announced that Tom Hammond
will be the network's main broadcaster for Olympic Track and
Field events in Atlanta. He will be joined by Dwight Stones,
Craig Maback and Carol Lewis (NBC Sports).
