THE MONUMENT TO MASCULINITY: A MEN'S JOURNAL TV SHOW ON ESPN

Men's Journal is formulating plans for a TV show based on
the magazine which will run weekly on ESPN. The show "will take
viewers on athletically voyeuristic trips featuring challenging
outdoor sports," according to Ann Marie Kerwin of INSIDE MEDIA.
The first of 13 programs will debut in the 2nd quarter of '96,
with April 6 the tentative date for the debut. Corporate
sponsorships are being sold for the show, including a print
commitment along with two 30-second television commercials. Nike
and Dodge have reportedly already committed, and "each advertiser
will be given billboard signage on the program." Men's Journal
Publisher Mark MacDonald notes the sponsorships are category
exclusive and that Nike and Dodge have "already bought 50 percent
of the show's inventory" (INSIDE MEDIA, 1/24 issue).
