REEBOK GEARS UP FOR SWEATSUIT SHOWDOWN AT SUPER SHOW

Reebok looks to rebound from a "cold" '95 when it exhibits
new apparel at the Super Show, February 3-7 in Atlanta. The
BOSTON GLOBE, which previewed Reebok's new "eye-catching medal
presentation suits," reports the company views the Super Show and
its competition against rival Nike as an Olympic event in itself.
Reebok Marketing VP Scott Helbing: "This is like a presidential
campaign." Reebok's '95 lines "failed to excite consumers."
According to analyst Samuel Mitchell, "Everybody's been beating
up on them for last year's crappy product. ... [Reebok] must wow
retailers." Reebok's Super Show attire will include sweatsuits
and team uniforms designed for Olympic athletes competing from
the U.S., Brazil, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, Poland, Russia,
South Africa, China, and Sweden. The company also plans to debut
a neon green, no-laces sprinter's shoe to contrast with the
Olympic track's red surface" (Chris Reidy, BOSTON GLOBE, 1/25).
