PARTY IN BOSTON: NHL ALL-STAR GAME DRAWS 4.6 OVERNIGHT
Published January 22, 1996
The 46th NHL All-Star Game drew a preliminary overnight rating of 4.6 and an 8 share. The last NHL All-Star Game (played in the afternoon on NBC) drew a 3.5 overnight. Fox's boost comes with "two big asterisks," according to Michael Hiestand of USA TODAY. The prime time scheduling should have been a natural boost, and Fox's "hockey audience shrunk as the night wore on." After the 1st hour, Fox went head to head with ABC's U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which drew an 11.4 overnight (USA TODAY, 1/22).
