MIGHTY DUCKS IN THE OUTFIELD? GOODBYE TO HALO'S NAME?
Published January 22, 1996
Disney's purchase of 25% of the Angels and control of the
team's operations could mean a change of the team's logo, colors
and name, according to Ken Daley of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS.
Tony Tavares, President of Disney Sports Enterprises, "let it
slip" that "the same artists and marketing experts responsible"
for the logo and color scheme of the Mighty Ducks "are hard at
work revamping" the Angels scheme. Tavares didn't predict a name
change, but did add that "anything's possible" (DALLAS MORNING
NEWS, 1/21).
BULLETS FACE DILEMMA: The Bullets will face a dilemma next
year. After announcing their new name and releasing new
merchandise, they will be "competing with old Bullets gear"
(David Nelson, WASHINGTON TIMES, 1/22).
