ASCENT ENTERTAINMENT LOOKS FOR NEW SITE FOR PEPSI CENTER
Published January 22, 1996
Ascent Entertainment Group, owners of the Nuggets and Avalanche, are eyeing a site of land near Elitch Gardens in the Central Platte Valley for their new Pepsi Center, according to Curtis Eichelburger of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS. Ascent CEO Charlie Lyons met with Denver Mayor Wellington Webb to discuss the new arena. Webb: "I don't care who the partners are. All I care about is that the taxpayers of Denver are protected." The delay in site selection for the new arena helped contribute to a 22% decline in Ascent's stock since its IPO in December (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 1/19).
