NAMES IN THE NEWS

     ERIC and MARC FLEISHER, sons of the late NBPA Exec Dir LARRY
FLEISHER, are suing one another.  One of Eric's claims is that
Marc "diverted energy and money" from their firm in his bid to
head the NBPA (Peter Vecsey, N.Y. POST, 12/22).... 49ers
President CARMEN POLICY was profiled as the "Cover Story" on last
night's "Inside the NFL" on HBO.  Policy, on the 49ers' style:
"It's what occurs on the field with the players and coaches
that's most important.  And we would never allow the other
aspects of this business to interfere with or serve as a
distraction to that effort" (HBO, 12/21). ....BOB TECK, President
of the AHL Bandits, denied rumors the team would leave the AHL
for the ECHL (Baltimore SUN, 12/22).
