SPORTS STARS HIT NEW YORK FOR OPENING OF ALL-STAR CAFE
Published December 19, 1995
SHAQUILLE O'NEAL was spotted at New York's Motown Cafe yesterday. He was in town for the opening of the Official All- Star Cafe last night (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 12/19). O'Neal was one of the few Cafe backers not to appear on the "Late Show" with David Letterman last night. One by one, the Cafe's stars made walk-on appearances -- all wearing their All-Star Cafe jackets. MONICA SELES threw a tennis ball into the crowd. Letterman: "One of the greatest athletes in the world, and she throws like a girl." KEN GRIFFEY did the same with a baseball, WAYNE GRETZKY with a set of dentures, and ANDRE AGASSI with a "Grease" CD with Brooke Shields on the cover ("Late Show," CBS, 12/18)....CHARLIE SHEEN took "ET" on a tour of the "Sheen Room" in the All-Star Cafe -- full of baseball memorabilia and items from his sports movies, "Major League" and "Eight Men Out." ET's JOHN TESH promised coverage on tonight's show from the All-Star Cafe's Grand Opening ("ET," 12/18).
