     A Chicago publisher has put together an 80-page magazine,
"Dennis!," a tribute to the Bulls' DENNIS RODMAN (THE SPORTING
NEWS, 11/27)....Northwestern Coach GARY BARNETT, QB STEVE SCHNUR
and LB PAT FITZGERALD appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" to
discuss the school's return to the Rose Bowl for the first time
since '49 (ABC, 11/27).  Barnett also appeared on "CBS This
Morning" (CBS, 11/27)....
"Hoop Dreams" star ARTHUR AGEE recently formed the Arthur Agee
Role Model Foundation based in Chicago.  Its mission is to better
educate inner city adults on how to become positive role models
(Edge Sports Int'l)....Former pitcher DAVE STEWART is now a
special assistant to A's GM SANDY ALDERSON (N.Y. TIMES,
11/26)....EMMITT SMITH, after Greg Gumbel noted his efforts to
feed hungry families in Pensacola, and why those deeds sometimes
go unpublicized:  "That's just the way the press operates.  They
don't want to talk about the good stories.  They just want to
talk about the bad stories. ... A lot of athletes definitely go
back and give to the community.  And a lot of it is not
recognized, and that is very unfortunate."  Mike Ditka called
Smith "the real deal on and off the field. ... We need more guys
like Emmitt" ("NFL Live," 11/23)...."ET" previewed STEVE YOUNG'S
appearance on "Beverly Hills 90210."  Young, on Hollywood:  "A
lot like football.  Lot of free food.  People always ask if
you're O.K." ("ET," 11/23).
