     Miller Brewing announced plans yesterday to test market
"Southpaw Light," a premium light beer from its Plank Road
brewery.  The brewer will decide in December whether to
distribute Southpaw nationwide (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL,
11/22)....The Cotton Bowl features a Colorado-Oregon matchup,
marking the first time since '40 a Texas or SWC team has not
played in the game.  Cotton Bowl Athletic Assoc. President John
Crawford:  "We're going to have to get some sales effort here in
the Dallas area in order to fill it up."  The '40 game, Clemson-
Boston College, drew only 15,000 to the 68,252 stadium (ORLANDO
SENTINEL, 11/22)....The National Ski Patrol and Professional Ski
instructors of America have teamed with Subaru of America to
create Subaru Master of the Mountain -- a program designed to
strengthen skills and emphasize mountain safety
(Subaru)....Reebok will open a Planet Reebok store in King of
Prussia, PA, at the nation's second largest retail mall.  The
store is modeled after Reebok's flagship store in Manhattan
(Reebok)....The Miami Mile road race has replaced American
Airlines as its main sponsor with AvMed (MIAMI HERALD,
11/21)....Champs, Logo Athletic and NFL Properties Canada will
send one winner and a friend to Super Bowl XXX through a contest
designed to increase sales in Canada.  The promotion will use
Logo Athletic spokesperson Troy Aikman in a TV spot and point-of-
purchase displays in Champs stores (NFL)....The SGMA reports the
dollar value of sporting goods exports increased 22.5% for the
first six months of '95.  The total value of exported athletic
footwear was $1.074B for the first half of this year, compared
with $877M for the same period in '94.  The SGMA also reports,
for the first half of '95, imports are up 11.9% compared to the
same period in '94, at $3.146B (SGMA)...."NBR's" Paul Kangas
noted Reebok stock fell 2 1/2 points after Smith Barney
downgraded it from "neutral" to "under-performed" ("Nightly
Business Report," 11/21).  CNN's "Moneyline" also reported the
Reebok news (11/21).
