Facilities Venues

STADIUM NOTES

The owners of the Mall of America are close to an agreement
with the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission to buy
Bloomington's 53-acre Met Center site, once the home of the North
Stars. The purchase agreement prohibits the construction of a
convention center or sports facility on the site (Minneapolis
STAR TRIBUNE, 11/15)....According to America's Center Director
Bruce Sommer, 66,000 people left the Trans World Dome faster than
would leave Busch Stadium, nobody was arrested, only one person
got seriously ill, and there were only five complaints (ST. LOUIS
POST DISPATCH, 11/15)....Columnist Mike Downey's advice to people
complaining about a football stadium being built near Dodger
Stadium: "Don't live near a stadium" (L.A. TIMES, 11/15).
