FRANCHISES - DISNEY AND DODGERS TALK NFL PARTNERSHIP

The Walt Disney Co. and Dodgers Owner Peter O'Malley are
considering a joint venture to buy an NFL team and build a new
stadium at Chavez Ravine, according to the L.A. DAILY NEWS.
While it was believed both Disney and O'Malley were considering
separate stadium plans to bring the NFL back to L.A., Mark
Katches reports, at the suggestion of an NFL official, the two
may now work together. According to a source close to the
Dodgers: "You take the Disney magic and the Dodger and O'Malley
mystique -- a sports mogul and an entertainment mogul and you
have an exciting match. The talks are reportedly in the early
stages." The source added: "It could be as basic as joint
ownership of a team and a stadium, it could be Dodger ownership
and management of a team and Disney ownership and management of
the stadium." Disney officials would only comment that they are
"interested" in bringing a team to L.A., while the Dodgers had no
comment (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 11/11).
