@ FRANCHISE NOTES: MORE BULLETS NAME CHANGE NEWS

     In New York, George Vecsey's notes while Bullets Owner Abe
Pollin had been thinking of changing the team's name for years,
the assassination of his friend, Yitzhak Rabin, convinced him to
carry out the plan (N.Y. TIMES, 11/12).  Similar reports appears
in NEWSWEEK and U.S. NEWS (NEWSWEEK, U.S. NEWS, 11/20
issue)....The Red Sox are increasing ticket prices for the first
time in three years (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/11)....Shaun Powell notes
the Rockets are "miffed" that NBA Commissioner David Stern
bypassed their ring ceremony to attend season openers in Toronto
and Vancouver (NEWSDAY, 11/13)....The Jets could play in St. Paul
at the Civic Center, according to Sid Hartman.  St. Paul Mayor
Norm Coleman will be in New York Tuesday to talk to Commissioner
Gary Bettman (Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 11/12).
