JOSE MERCURY NEWS.  On his life after football, Killion writes:
"The reality of being Joe Montana, football player, has been
replaced by the business of being Joe Montana, cultural icon.
And it's a full-time job" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 11/1)....Former
Tigers GM JIM CAMPBELL died Tuesday night in Lakeland, FL
(DETROIT NEWS, 11/1)....MONICA SELES has been forced to withdraw
from the Bank of the West Classic in Oakland due to a nagging
knee injury (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 11/1)....O.J. SIMPSON has
agreed to appear at a memorabilia show in Atlantic City next
February, and will apparently sign not only sports memorabilia
but also items commemorating his murder trial.  Atlantic City's
mayor objects to Simpson's appearance, and the announcement
caused a stir among women's groups (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 11/1).
....DON SHULA will open his third Shula Steakhouse at downtown
Miami's Hyatt Regency.  Decor for the restaurant, scheduled to
open by Christmas or early next year, will feature the undefeated
'72 Dolphins (MIAMI HERALD, 10/31).
