NAMES IN THE NEWS

     KEVIN POSTON, President & CEO of Professional Sports
Planning Inc. (No. 36), and MICHAEL FEZZEY, President & GM and
WJR-AM (No. 38), were named to CRAIN'S DETROIT BUSINESS's list of
"40 of the Brightest In Communications Under the Age of 40."
Poston's firm represent such NBA stars as Anfernee Hardaway, and
Fezzey's WJR has Tigers and Red Wings rights through 2000
(CRAIN'S DETROIT BUSINESS, 9/25 issue)....Former Vikings QB FRAN
TARKENTON "lambasted" the NFL and Vikings President ROGER
HEADRICK over a perceived lack of attention to Tarkenton's
passing records, which are beginning to fall to the Dolphins' Dan
Marino.  Tarkenton:  "These records are similar to Hank Aaron
breaking Babe Ruth's home run record, yet you know how many calls
I've gotten from the NFL about this?  Zero.  None. Zilch."
Tarkenton referred to Headrick, a former Pillsbury exec, as "the
Pillsbury Doughboy" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 10/4)....DENNY
TREASE has been named Dir of Communications and Community
Relations for the Royals (SportsTicker).
