FRANCHISE NOTES

Blue Jays President Paul Beeston confirmed the team's 11-
person board will be disbanded. It will be replaced by a smaller
committee of four or five individuals. Beeston: "It certainly
wasn't a shock. When Interbrew first took over, there were
natural expectations that something would be done. They are now
the owners and it's their decision that a smaller board would be
more workable." Of the 11 previous board members only Beeston
and George Radford are expected to stay on (TORONTO SUN,
10/31).... Minneapolis will become the 15th team in the Arena
Football League when it begins play in May '96. The team will be
owned and operated by Century Park Pictures Corp. and Tom
Scallen, CEO of Century Park Pictures, will serve as team
President. The team will play in the Target Center
(AFL)....Today's Toronto GLOBE & MAIL reports speculation that
the a multimillionaire is trying to lure key personnel from the
CFL Calgary Stampeders to run the CFL Arognaunts. The
"prominent" builder is planning to make a bid for the Argos, and
wants Stampeders Owners Larry Ryckman, Coach Wally Buono and Doug
Flutie to be his partners. Flutie would be QB and part-owner on
this "dream team" (Marty York, Toronto GLOBE & MAIL,
