FRANCHISE NOTES

The Nuggets reported revenues of $46M last season -- double
what the team generated three years ago. The club reported
$13.7M of the revenue came from ticket sales and radio/TV, while
$18.3M came from "other sources," such as concessions and NBA
royalties (DENVER POST, 10/26). ...Nashville Mayor Phil Bredesen
said if the Oilers decide to leave Houston before '98, Memphis
would be the most likely site for the club until a stadium could
be completed in Nashville. The Oilers have already started talks
with Nashville radio and television stations regarding broadcast
rights for '98 (TENNESSEAN, 10/25)....Rockets owner Les Alexander
has been granted an Arena League team to start play next May
(HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 10/27)....Red Sox Limited Partner/Team
Physician Arthur Pappas said he has no intention of stepping down
from either position after losing a $1.7M settlement to former
second baseman Marty Barrett. Barrett claimed negligence by
Pappas in treating a knee injury in '89 (BOSTON HERALD,
10/27)....A meeting between NHL Jets buyer Richard Burke and MN
Government leaders was cancelled yesterday so that financial
experts could have more time to examine data given to them by
Burke (Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 10/27).
