THE DON KING TRIAL: ESPN CALLS IT AN "EXPLOSIVE" DAY

Videotaped testimony by claims adjuster David Matthew
Collett, hired by Lloyd's of London, said boxing promoter Don
King would not have been paid for money "theoretically lost" on a
canceled fight in '91 if the company had known King never
actually spent the money. King is accused of defrauding Lloyd's
out of $350,000 by falsifying a contract to make it appear he had
lost training fees to Julio Cesar Chavez for his fight with
Harold Brazier (NEWSDAY, 10/20). ESPN's Jimmy Roberts noted
Thursday's testimony was "one of the more explosive days," but
analyst Ken Caruso added: "The government will need more proof
linking Don King to these crimes" ("Up Close," ESPN, 10/19).
