OLYMPIC NOTES: 2004 GAMES IN CHICAGO?

     A report in CRAIN'S CHICAGO BUSINESS notes the recent
success of the World Cup in Chicago, and the expected success of
the Democratic Convention next year, "have Mayor Richard Daley
and his advisors thinking about a Chicago Olympics" (CRAIN'S
CHICAGO BUSINESS, 9/25 issue)....Moving ahead with plans to have
"major downtown exposure" during the Atlanta Olympics, Nike has
"lined up its third high-profile location," the William Oliver
Building overlooking Woodruff Park at Peachtree and Marietta
Streets (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 9/25)....ACOG's Billy Payne last
week dedicated the Olympic venue at Lake Lanier in Gainesville,
GA, which will serve as the setting for the rowing and
canoe/kayak competitions (ACOG)....American swimmers winning gold
medals in Atlanta will get $50,000 from the U.S. Swimming
Federation.  This is up from $20,000 offered at the '94 World
Cahmpionships in Rome (AP/N.Y. TIMES, 9/22).
