MODELL DENIES REPORTS THAT HE SAID HE WANTS OUT
Published August 4, 1995
In speaking with a group of Carolina reporters earlier this week, Browns Owner Art Modell reportedly said he no longer wishes to play in Cleveland Stadium, according to Charles Chandler of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. Modell: "I want to get out of here. My parking capacity is eight. Moving to the suburbs off the interstate is the answer for us." But one day later, Modell denied that he ever said anything about moving. Modell told reporters in Cleveland yesterday "he never said that he wanted out, that he was being facetious when he commented about the parking and that 'in an ideal world' a new stadium in the suburbs would be preferable" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/4).
