     The Athletic Footwear Association in North Palm Beach, FL,
has selected Ground Zero of Venice, CA, as the first advertising
and marketing communications agency to promote running in the
U.S., according the N.Y. TIMES.   Billings were estimated at $3M
(N.Y. TIMES, 8/31)....Nike has begun airing a TV spot featuring a
group of young girls "who speak emotionally about why sports are
vital to their lives."  Excerpts:  "If you let me play I will be
less likely to get pregnant before I want to. ... If you let me
play, I will be more likely to leave a man who beats me" (USA
TODAY, 8/31)....CMG Worldwide is introducing a commemorative logo
to support a year-long 60th anniversary celebration of the
victories of Jesse Owens at the '36 Olympics.  The logo will be
available for use on specifically licensed products (CMG
Worldwide)....USC and UCLA will use Prime Sports West's "I Play"
ad campaign in their '95 marketing.  The "I Play" theme, created
by Seiniger Advertising Group, debuted in March with Wayne
Gretzky, Nick Van Exel, Tim Salmon and Tony Gwynn explaining why
they play their sport (Prime)....NFL Properties and Little, Brown
and Co. will publish "Game Plans for Success:  Winning Strategies
for Business and Life from 10 Top NFL Head Coaches" on September
18th.  The 256-page book will retail for $22.95
(NFL)....Officials at Fila "must be secretly pleased to see"
Michael Jordan in a Rayovac ad with the line, "Change the Game,"
according to AD WEEK.  That is the same line that Fila uses in
their ads (AD WEEK, 8/21).
