ESPN READIES SUBSCRIPTION FEE FOR WEB'S "SPORTSZONE"

On August 28, ESPN will become one of the first to charge a subscription fee for its Web site, ESPNET SportsZone (http://ESPNET.SportsZone.com). ESPN will charge users $4.95 per month or $39.95 per year for access to most parts of the site. A "limited free area" will include sports news and statistics (AD AGE ONLINE, 8/21).
