     McDonald's in the U.K. has been awarded "official restaurant
status" by English Football's Premier League, giving the chain
the "right to use the Premier League logo in all marketing,"
according to AD AGE ONLINE.  McDonald's began a new TV campaign
starring the captain of England's national soccer team, David
Platt (AD AGE ONLINE, 8/15).... Silverman, Warren/Kremer, Inc.
has added four new public relations accounts, including pro
soccer's Long Island Rough Riders and P.S./StarGames (Silverman,
Warren/Kremer).... The Univ of IL won't have names on the back of
their football jerseys this year, but will have a Nike logo on
the front shoulder.  Coach Lou Tepper: "We're trying to downplay
the individual aspect of the game" (CHICAGO SUN TIMES,
8/14)....Ticket brokers and scalpers are asking and getting up to
$1,000/ticket for the Orioles September 6th game when Cal Ripken
is scheduled to break the record for consecutive games played.
The Orioles are talking with the league about adding temporary
seats, and have held some seats back for VIPs (Baltimore SUN,
8/15).  ESPN's "Cover Story" last night was on O.J. Simpson
memorabilias.  Mark Schwarz reported that popularity and value of
Simpson cards have gone down as the trial has dragged on.  Larry
Labell, President of Labell Network Corp which has produced O.J.
coins:  "We're not doing a Charles Manson coin.  If he broke all
kinds of records, of whatever kind, somebody might have made it.
You do coins of heroes, you do coins of presidents, people of
importance" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 8/14).  Dale Earnhardt on
President Clinton's proposed regulations on tobacco sponsorship:
"The Winston Cup drivers are really upset about it.  You're
talking about people's rights here.  You're talking about their
right to choose to do or don't do what you want to.  This is
America and I think you need to leave it alone" ("SportsCenter,"
ESPN, 8/14).
