     49ers Owner EDWARD DEBARTOLO has formed a new company called
DeBartolo Entertainment that will develop properties that will
combine gaming, hotel and retail operations in CA, FL, LA, PA, OH
and OK (S.F. CHRONICLE, 6/9)....Orioles Owner PETER ANGELOS is
profiled in the current issue of THE SPORTING NEWS.  Steve
Marantz documents "the Algeresque rise of Angelos from son of a
Greek immigrant steelworker-cum-tavern owner to multimillionaire
nemesis of BUD SELIG" (THE SPORTING NEWS, 6/12)....Dodgers
Catcher MIKE PIAZZA was on the "Tonight Show" last night.  Piazza
on working with Hideo Nomo:  "When I'm talking to his
interpretor, he teaches me the curse words, that was the number
one lesson.  In a rule of baseball, you have to learn the bad
words.  Like last night, I went out for a meeting on the mound
because he was having a little bit of trouble and I started
saying a couple of the words, and he just started laughing.  He
gets a real kick out of it.  He really loves when I attempt to
speak Japanese" (NBC, 6/8).
