     Nike is the new sponsor of the Track and Field Writers of
America.  The company has provided a grant to continue
publication of the organization's monthly newsletter
(USATF)....Labatt Genuine Draft is sponsoring the Grizzlies draft
party this evening (Grizzlies)....CO-based Kryptonic, one of the
nation's manufacturers of polyurethane wheels for in-line skates,
is profiled by Alan Snel of the Boulder DAILY CAMERA.  With
annual sales reaching $20M, they are "poised to enter the big
leagues of corporate America" (Boulder DAILY CAMERA, 6/28)....Hot
fashion tips at Wimbledon.  Andre Agassi's all-white bandannas,
and Mary Pierce's short, white dress with blue polka dots.
Agassi on the bandannas: "I really haven't even thought about the
sales quite honestly" (WASHINGTON POST, 6/28)....I-70 Speedway in
Odessa, MO, has signed a title sponsor for the August 26 NASCAR
Slim Jim All-Pro Series.  The event will be known as the Country
Mart 250 (NASCAR NEWS, 6/95 issue).... Philip Morris President &
CEO James Morgan was interviewed on CNBC's "Business Insiders."
When asked about the governments decree on stadium advertising
morgan replied, "This is not an issue of advertising in sports
facilities, it is an issue of unintended television exposure of
that advertising" (CNBC, 6/27)....ESPN's Robin Roberts reported
that Carquest initiated negotiations between Miami and the
University of Florida to renew their football rivalry and the two
schools are "close to clinching a deal."  The game would take
place in late August at Joe Robbie Stadium, possibly by '96
("SportsCenter," ESPN, 6/27)....MLB's theme park, FanFest, will
be a part of festivities at the softball venue for the '95
Special Olympic World Games in New Haven, CT, from July 1-7.
FanFest is sponsored by Phoenix Home Life (MLB)....The uniforms
of the new AHL Baltimore Bandits will feature a "racoon-like
character with skates and a hockey stick who is based loosely on
Meeko," a character in the movie "Pocahontas."  The character was
created by Disney Sports Enterprises and will be unveiled later
next month (Baltimore SUN, 6/28)....Score Board announced that it
has a memorandum of understanding with GTE Card Services to
develop, manufacture, and sell prepaid phone cars featuring the
logos, uniforms, and players of the NFL (Score Board).
