NIKE TO ENLARGE BEAVERTON CAMPUS?

Nike Inc. has asked its Portland architectural firm,
Thompson Valvoda & Assoc., to draw up preliminary plans for
developing 100 acres just north of its headquarters in Beaverton,
OR. Although nothing is planned, Nike is studying a "mammoth"
expansion that could more than double the size of the current
850,000 square-foot office park. Nike spokesperson Keith Peters
said there are no immediate plans for expansion, and said that
"it may not occur at all." Peters did acknowledge that Nike has
"outgrown" the current campus. Details of the potential
expansion plan were not given (Jeff Manning, Portland OREGONIAN,
6/26).
WHAT'S NEW ON THE PLANET? Reebok is profiled in the current
ADVERTISING AGE with the header, "Better Days Ahead on Planet
Reebok." In March, they will unveil their Mobius program, "a
family of footwear and apparel products, cutting across all
performance categories, that will boast stark black and white
designs." Mobius will address such concerns as "cutting edge
design, a more conspicuous brand presence at retail, and updating
product" more frequently. Industry analysts familiar with Mobius
are reportedly "impressed by it" (Jeff Jensen, AD AGE, 7/3
issue).
