The current issue of INSIDE MEDIA reports that NBC "has
raised the price of 30-second spots on its Olympic telecast by
about 20 percent," and is charging about $350-400,000 for 30
seconds in Olympic prime-time. NBC has been able to "boost
rates" because it has sold more than $550M worth of time for the
Games that are still 13 months away -- against their sales goal
of "just above" $600M. NBC paid $456M for the '96 TV rights
(INSIDE MEDIA, 6/21 issue).
