NAMES IN THE NEWS

     Billionaire RON PERELMAN outbid a local private school for
the L.A. estate once owned by former L.A. Kings Owner BRUCE
MCNALL.  Three other McNall holdings -- Los Angeles Kings Ltd.,
Kings Hockey Inc., and McNall Sports and Entertainment, filed for
Chapter 11 earlier this month (L.A. TIMES, 5/31)....GEORGE
FOREMAN was profiled in the WASHINGTON POST.  Foreman, explaining
that only The Almighty could have created such athletes as
MICHAEL JORDAN, SHAQUILLE O'NEAL, or himself:  "There's no
greater sports fan than God" (WASHINGTON POST, 5/30).... MYRON
BOLITAR, fictional sports agent, is the hero of HARLAN COBEN's
latest mystery novel, "Deal Breaker."  The second book in the
Bolitar series, "Drop Shot," is due in March 1996 (THE
DAILY)....Bruin CAM NEELY was presented a $20,000 check from 17-
year old cancer patient Erik Holzapfel to help build the Neely
House for patients and families of the New England Medical
Center's Floating Hospital (BOSTON HERALD, 5/28).
