  • EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

         CFL announced that DON BARKER has retired as the league's
    Dir of Officiating.  ROSS PERRIER has been named new Director
    (CFL)....SUSAN BINFORD has been promoted to Exec VP of Public
    Relations for Turner Entertainment Group.  She was formerly
    Senior VP of Public Relations....LARRY GOODMAN has been named
    Exec VP of News & Ops for Turner Broadcasting Sales.  Goodman was
    Exec VP of Ops and Client Services....BUD GREENSPAN has signed to
    produce a two-hour special on U.S. Olympic athletes for Turner
    Original Productions (ELECTRONIC MEDIA, 5/1 issue)....Liberty
    Sports appointed FRED MCCALLISTER to the position of VP/League
    Ops and MARK FABER as VP/League Marketing.  McCallister will be
    responsible for overseeing the operations of Liberty's future
    league endeavors and Faber will develop marketing strategies for
    those leagues (Liberty)....Lions VP/Marketing & Broadcasting BILL
    KEENIST has added the ticket department to his duties (DETROIT
    NEWS, 4/30)....SportsChannel New York announced that PETE
    SILVERMAN is the new VP/Programming and Production (Bob Raissman,
    N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 5/2).

         AVP star KENT STEFFES is one of PEOPLE's "50 Most Beautiful
    People."  Steffes: "I've got nice toes, and clean toenails, which
    is rare in beach volleyball" (PEOPLE, 5/8). ....ANDRE AGGASI has
    unveiled plans for a music concert and dinner to benefit
    children's charities supported by the Agassi Foundation
    (ATP)....Citing the "overkill" of TV  figure skating exhibitions,
    BRIAN BOITANO called for a tour similar to that of the PGA and a
    skaters' union.  But he admitted problems:  "There are a lot of
    people that can be bought for  a higher price" (AP/HOUSTON
    CHRONICLE, 4/30).... Hornets Owner GEORGE SHINN denies "hinting"
    that he is offering MICHAEL JORDAN a job with the team, but says,
    "If he ever desires to come home [to NC] permanently, I might be
    one of the people he'd want to see" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES,
    4/30)....CHARLES BARKLEY says former Dream Team I mate MAGIC
    JOHNSON should give other players a chance to play on Dream Team
    III and drop his plans to play in '96.  Barkley: "It was a great
    experience for me.  It was one of the highlights of my life.  But
    I just think he should let other players experience that"

    profiled in an NBC special, "Tycoon," set to air May 26
    (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 5/2).... Three men have been elected to
    the NSGA Sporting Goods Industry Hall of Fame.  JOHN BRUNSWICK,
    founder of the Brunswick Corp.; E. CLAUDE MANNING, founder of the
    National Buying Syndicate; and CLIFFORD DICKMAN, President of
    Kesslers Sport Shop.  They will be honored at a July 18 ceremony
    (NSGA)....KI-JANA CARTER has signed on with Nike Sports
    Management.  He brings the total number of athletic clients to 12
    (Michael Heistand, USA TODAY, 5/2).
