     JUWAN HOWARD, who graduated Saturday from Michigan:  "When I
left early and told people I was going to go back to school and
get my degree, a lot of them didn't believe me.  It wasn't like I
was trying to go out and prove something to anyone, I was doing
it for myself and my family."  Howard plans on attending graduate
school someday ("Sunday SportsDay," ESPN, 4/30)....MICHAEL
JORDAN, who was ESPN's "Sunday Conversation," talked about his
father's death and how he feels about the individuals implicated
for the murder possibly getting the death penalty: "If they kill
those guys, it doesn't mean much to me, because my father's
gone."  Jordan, on his relationship with his sponsors: "We're all
partners, they get something, I get something" (ESPN, 4/30).
Former Laker JAMES WORTHY has been named to the board of the
Watts Foundation Community Trust Organization (L.A. TIMES,
4/30).....According to reports in the L.A. TIMES, fired Kings
Coach BARRY MELROSE may be in the ESPN studio for the playoffs
(DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 4/29)....GRANT HILL on being named to
PEOPLE's "50 Most Beautiful People:"  "I'm so thin that when I go
to the beach, I don't take my shirt off" (Baltimore SUN, 4/30).
