L.A. TIMES REPORTS MONTANA TO RETIRE NEXT WEEK
Published April 11, 1995
JOE MONTANA will announce his retirement next week in a ceremony in San Francisco, according to Bill Plashke in this morning's L.A. TIMES. Plashke reports that Montana's relatives have already flown from PA to San Francisco to join him, and that "Montana has finally decided to listen to his aches, pains and the wishes of his wife, Jennifer." According to a source "close to the situation," Montana is "sick of practicing and his wife wants him at home." The announcement "has been timed" to make money available to the Chiefs before the draft (L.A. TIMES, 4/11).
