RAYCOM LOSES AN ACC AFFILIATE IN ATLANTA FOR ONE YEAR
Published April 10, 1995
In order to "clear the decks" for pre-Olympics programming in '96, WXIA-Atlanta has decided to "sever its long-standing relationship" with Raycom for the ACC weekend basketball package during the '95-96 season. WXIA VP Bob Walker: "Give our status as Atlanta's official Olympic station, we concluded it was best not to take the ACC. We wanted to make sure we supported NBC and all of the network's programming leading up to the Olympics." Raycom is in negotiations with other Atlanta stations about the '95-96 season (Prentis Rogers, ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 4/9).
