COMSAT HIRES PROJECT DIRECTOR FOR NEW ARENA

COMSAT Corp. has hired Tim Romani as project director for the new basketball/hockey arena in Denver that is scheduled to open in '97. Romani had served as Exec Dir of the IL Sports Facilities Authority before taking the Denver job. There, he was responsible for construction of the new Comiskey Park, a $185M project that was completed on schedule and under budget in April '91. Tim Leiweke, President of COMSAT's Rocky Mountain Entertainment, on Romani: "His expertise in constructing sports facilities ensures Denver of receiving a showcase arena that will be one of the finest in the country." Leiweke and Romani were in Anaheim last week to visit Arrowhead Pond, designed by HOK -- also architects for Denver's arena (Chance Conner, DENVER POST, 3/8).
