BICKERSTAFF'S NEW NUGGETS ROLE WAS NO DEMOTION FOR LEIWEKE
Published March 2, 1995
Despite reports characterizing Nuggets President Tim Leiweke's reassignment last week as a step down, today's DENVER POST describes the change as "hardly a demotion." Leiweke now shifts from "overseeing the Nuggets basketball operations to heading COMSAT's Rocky Mountain Entertainment." And, with that position, Leiweke has become "something of an entertainment czar in the Central Platte Valley." Leiweke will be responsible for atrracting an NHL team to Denver and managing construction of a proposed $130M "state-of-the-art" arena. Leiweke: "People ended up thinking it was some sort of power struggle, and it wasn't" (Chance Conner, DENVER POST, 3/2).
