ACOG ANNOUNCES FINAL DETAILS FOR TICKET BUYERS
ACOG yesterday announced final details on how to purchase tickets for the '96 Games. Ticket brochures will be available May 1 and are expected to be available at grocery stores and Home Depot's. Although there are 11 million tickets -- more than L.A. and Barcelona combined -- around half of the events are expected to sell out in the first two months. ACOG's "FairTix" computer system will be used to select winners and assign seats for events that sell out by June 30 (Melissa Turner, ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 3/17). ROMA 2004? Rome (Italy, not GA) Mayor Francesco Rutelli, Italian Olympic Committee President Mario Pescante and IAAF President Primo Nebiolo met with IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch yesterday to discuss Rome's chances to host the 2004 Summer Games. Nebiolo: "The idea of Rome hosting the first Olympic Games of the third millennium got off to a very good start today" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 3/17).
