House Maj. Leader Dick Armey said that if Sen. Mark Hatfield (R- OR) -- the lone Senate GOP vote against the Contract's must-pass balanced-budget amendment -- were in the House, he'd be stripped of his cmte chair. No word from Armey on whether the leadership posts of House Maj. Whip Tom DeLay (R-TX), GOP Conference Chair John Boehner (R-OH), Conference Vice Chair Susan Molinari (R-NY) and Judiciary Chair Henry Hyde (R-IL) are in jeopardy over their opposition to the key Contract provision relating to term limits.
