Discounting NBC's first NBA telecast on Christmas Night, ratings for NBA games are up 3% over last year's numbers. Including the Christmas Night game, ratings are down 13% overall (Rudy Martzke, USA TODAY, 2/24)....The Univ. of Maryland announced a 4-year deal with Learfield Communications for radio rights to its football and basketball broadcasts, worth $900,000 over the length of the deal (Baltimore SUN, 2/24)....WB network programming on Chicago's WGN was delayed by a day once in January because of a prior commitment to the Bulls. The delay came despite WB management's emphasis on keeping a regular schedule to establish viewing habits (BROADCASTING & CABLE, 2/20).... TNT's Craig Sager is doing a "Day in the Life" segment on Grizzlies' VP of Basketball Ops/GM Stu Jackson. The segment will air on an upcoming TNT broadcast (Grizzlies).
