In taking on the World Tour, PGA Tour Commissioner TIM
FINCHEM "launched the most efficient pre-emtive strike golf has
ever seen," according to Larry Dorman in this morning's N.Y.
TIMES profile on Finchem.  "That Finchem is an emerging force in
the big-time world of sports commissioners is a given, but just
where does he fit?"  Dorman writes that Finchem "presides over a
sport with possibly the cleanest image of all" (N.Y. TIMES, 2/1).

     At Raycom, CHUCK SELF was promoted to VP of Affiliate
Relations. Self, 34, was Director of Affiliate Relations in the
Southern Region.  LAURA SHORT was promoted to Affiliate Relations
Account Executive.  Short, 25, was Contract Admistrator
(Raycom)....RICHARD FLIGHT has been named PR Director for the
Birmingham Barons.  Flight replaces FRANK BUCCIERI, who resigned
to become Assistant GM for Jackson of the Texas League (Mult.,
2/1)....BARRY WATKINS, the PR director for the New York Rangers,
was named VP/PR and Marketing for MSG Network (N.Y. POST, 2/1).
