MLB OFFICIALS DENY REPORT OF A SETTLEMENT IN STRAWBERRY CASE
Contrary to a Friday report in the N.Y. DAILY NEWS, MLB officials denied they had agreed to a settlement with Darryl Strawberry. The report had stated a plea-bargain had been reached "contingent on his recieving written assurance that a guilty plea to a felony would not lead to further disciplinary action against him by baseball." MLB spokesperson Rich Levin: "Contrary to published reports, we haven't made a deal with anybody" (N.Y. TIMES, 1/28).
