DISNEY DENIES EVER SUPPORTING CA'S PROP. 187
Published December 6, 1994
Two corporations "targeted in a boycott" over CA's proposition 187 -- Disney Co. and Chevron Corp. -- "decried the action Monday, saying they never supported the sweeping ballot measure to deny non-emergency government services to illegal immigrants." Many Latino groups plan on participating in the boycott of all "businesses, tourism, vacations, conferences and meetings" in CA until 187 is repealed. The boycott targets Disney and Chevron because those companies contributed "heavily" to the re-election efforts of CA Gov. Pete Wilson, who made 187 a "cornerstone" of his campaign. Disney said it gave to both candidates for governor (Brooks & Feldman, L.A. TIMES, 12/6).
