USA Track & Field's board of directors voted Tuesday to accept a recommendation that will extend the contract of their Exec Dir, OLLAN CASSELL (USATF).... Prime Ticket has named TIM KRASS to oversee all regional affiliate relations for the company's multiple networks. Krass will head up a team of affiliate sales execs that includes RAY HOPKINS and consultant STARRETT BERRY (PRIME)....The PGA Tour Tournament Policy Board named JAMES NORDSTROM to be an Independent Dir on the Policy Board. The Tour also announced that EDWARD BROWN III has been named to the PGA Tour Golf Course Properties Advisory Board (PGA Tour)....TIM HELLMUTH resigned as Astros Dir of Player Admin; TIM PURPURA has been named Dir of Major- and Minor-league Player Relations (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/29)....ROGER PENSKE, founder and president of Penske Corp., has been named to the board of General Electric Company (NASCAR NEWS, 12/6 issue)....The Panthers will have a follow-up meeting with former Redskins coach JOE GIBBS to become head coach.
