Eagles owner JEFFREY LURIE on Sunday visited the White House to meet with Clinton aides in an attempt to develop a "meaningful program" to deal with urban community development. Lurie said several plans were discussed but he is unsure if the Eagles want to develop a kind of umbrella strategy to work with the community or if they want to aid individual organizations on a case-by-case basis. Lurie: "We want it to be long-term support with a sustained impact, not a one-shot deal. We'll probably look a little more before we act" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 10/31).

U.S. Justice Department prosecutors will begin extradition proceedings against Toronto attorney and former NHLPA head ALAN EAGELSON "within the next two weeks," according to NHL sources.
