Eagles owner JEFFREY LURIE on Sunday visited the White House
to meet with Clinton aides in an attempt to develop a "meaningful
program" to deal with urban community development. Lurie said
several plans were discussed but he is unsure if the Eagles want
to develop a kind of umbrella strategy to work with the community
or if they want to aid individual organizations on a case-by-case
basis. Lurie: "We want it to be long-term support with a
sustained impact, not a one-shot deal. We'll probably look a
little more before we act" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 10/31).
