NAMES IN THE NEWS

     PARKER BOHN III, a top bowler who has earned the PBA's "nice
guy" award four consecutive years, hopes to become the PBA's next
president.  Like most pros, "the dramatic lack of prize money
compared to sports such as golf and tennis is disturbing, but
he's concerned about the lack of media attention paid to the
sport.  He thinks that more exposure would lead to increased PBA
prize funds."  Bohn wonders why ESPN, which carries PBA events,
"still neglects bowling on 'SportsCenter'" (WASHINGTON TIMES,
10/6)....DEION SANDERS will make his rap debut on the soundtrack
to JEAN CLAUDE VAN DAMME's new film "Street Fighter" (HOLLYWOOD
REPORTER, 10/5)....MARK HEISLER's unauthorized biography on PAT
