OLYMPIC SOCCER HEADS FOR NATION'S CAPITAL IN '96
Published October 27, 1994
RFK Stadium has been named to be one of five national arenas scheduled to host Olympic soccer matches during the '96 Olympic Games. Nine games will be played in Washington, which joins Orlando, Miami, Birmingham and Athens as the soccer venues (Steven Goff, WASHINGTON POST, 10/27). FIFA has approved the five stadiums for Olympic soccer but noted that Legion Field in Birmingham, AL, must convert to a grass field (Frank Dell'Apa, BOSTON GLOBE, 10/27).
