NAMES IN THE NEWS

Fox programming chief SANDY GRUSHOW was let go on Tuesday,
"a victim of poor ratings for the new TV season." Grushow's
replacement is JOHN MATOIAN, a former CBS TV movie exec (USA
TODAY, 9/29)....The American Heart Association and American
Cancer Society are suing the state of SC for the rights to
SHOELESS JOE JACKSON's will. Collector Barry Halper says the
signature on the will is one of maybe five Jackson left behind,
and could be worth "up to $100,000" -- money that could go to
medical research for the two charities that control Jackson's
estate. A ruling is expected in a few months ("Nightly News,"
NBC, 9/28)....JACK NICKLAUS was recently spied inspecting a golf
course and adjacent land on Nantucket. Sources say construction
on a Nicklaus-designed course could begin as soon as May '95, but
Nicklaus' Golden Bear Enterprises declined comment until "later
this week" (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/28).
